We are so proud to be able to bring you a property of the calibre of Watch Hill. Available for booking now, I’m sure you’ll see just why we’re so excited about this house. Watch Hill, a house steeped in history and adventure. Watch Hill is an Edwardian manor house dating back to 1922. Situated in pretty Budleigh Salterton and commissioned by the American millionaire Blake Thompson, the house is one of no less than fifty private residences designed by architect William Hatchard-Smith. Between 1939 and the early 1970s Watch Hill was home to more than 1500 overseas servicemen with no other home to go to. This wonderful house was once used as the setting for the Agatha Christie novel Sleeping Murder! Feel part of something exciting, this house is like no other. With nine bedrooms Watch Hill can accommodate a total of 16 guests in self-catering splendour! In addition, the house boasts impressive period reception rooms, a state of the art kitchen, a fully equipped playroom for younger guests and a games room complete with snooker table, television and playstation. Set in perfect landscaped gardens, we’re sure that Watch Hill will appeal to young and old guests alike. After all, what is more perfect than a sea view.

Definitely worth a stay! Was a joy to spend the weekend at the gorgeous Watch Hill. Stunning setting and incredibly well maintained home with the ivy on the outside and amenities inside. Everything one needs to come and get away from the stresses of home life. We used the grounds for games and even had some fun on the zip line. A beautiful maze inside! Emilie made everything clear and understandable and with so many rooms it can get confusing where is where.
An absolutely amazing house in the heart of a lovely seaside village. The hosts were very attentive to our needs before our visit and answered any questions within the hour. The house itself is incredible. So much space both inside and outside, with a lovely garden and sea views. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed and even a hamper to make us feel very welcome. The rooms and bathrooms are also great and well equipped. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone who needs a large space for get togethers!
Lovely house in a super location! We would definitely recommend and will book again. We had a weekend away with friends and their children – the house is vast and accommodated our large group easily. The house was also immaculately clean. Budleigh Salterton itself is super with easy access to the South West coast path.
The house was absolutely fantastic and the support/ communication with Unique Holiday Stays only added to make the total experience such a positive one. It’s a beautiful house in a stunning location.
An amazing house to spend our reunion weekend in. The location is great and the house had lots of thoughtful additions! The outside space is perfect for big groups and I can imagine would be beautiful in the summer! The hosts dealt with an issue with the house before our stay very professionally and quickly. Overall a lovely house! Highly recommend.

The house was more than we expected. Beds were comfy and the house provided everything you need. Views from the house are amazing. Would highly recommend.
What a totally beautiful house in a perfect location. We were a group of 13 and had so much space to relax and have fun. I would not hesitate to recommend this house to anyone wishing to host a large group and we’re planning to come back next year.
An amazing house and fantastic location that I would recommend for any large family wishing to celebrate a special occasion. The children loved the zip wire and tree house and will have lots of fond memories from our weekend stay. The beach is just minutes away and a walk along the coastal path offers stunning views. We’d love to come back!
Rented the house for husband’s 50th with our friends. The house is stunning with a view of the sea. There are lots of large and airy rooms with great facilities – the large wine fridge was certainly appreciated. The kitchen was beautiful, modern and well equipped, bedrooms large and comfortable as were all the bathrooms. The whole house was spotless. And only five mins walk from the beach. Unique Holiday Stays were very helpful and friendly when replying to my queries. I would definitely recommend staying at this wonderful house – we were all very reluctant leave on Monday morning!
