Set within the privacy and splendour of the Rousdon Estate, Rousdon Mist is a popular dog friendly cottage in the heart of the former Victorian gated village.

The cottage is perfect for family coastal getaways or cheeky romantic escapes; a master king en-suite bathroom, with a twin room and additional shared shower room.

The Details

Just Wow - Rousdon Mist is a delightful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life set in the most idyllic country setting of The Rousdon Estate. Nestled in 350 acres of private grounds including woodlands, gardens and meadows this is perfect for those seeking rest, relaxation and complete switch off. A luxurious retreat sleeping four and welcoming one furry friend. The old stable building has an open plan living space with oodles of character and lovingly re-decorated. A large sofa for curling up on in front of the logburner or watching the latest boxset on Netflix.

The kitchen comes fully equipped with everything you need to rustle up a romantic feast and that all important lazy lie-in breakfast. Nespresso coffee machine and pods provided. The first floor comprises of two bedrooms, a romantic en-suite bedroom with large windows overlooking the garden making it completely light and airy. With sumptuously crisp linens deep slumbers are guaranteed each and every time. The twin bedroom offers the perfect retreat for another couple or children and has views over both the garden and courtyard.

The immense grounds provide an endless source of adventure and discovery. A true delight the woods are bursting with scents and colours and dogs will love this enormous playground. Pack up a picnic and enjoy a lazy afternoon under the trees or for the more adventurous a clamber down to the beach for a spot of snorkling. We can sleep a 5th guest (ideally child or older child) on a camp bed or mattress.

Important Property Notes

The garden for Rousdon Mist is to the rear of the property, however it cannot be accessed from the property itself. Guests must use the dedicated garden gate, from the car park. There are no ground floor windows that overlook the garden, however both bedrooms do.

Charton Bay, touted as the Rousdon Estate private beach, is a considerable 45 minute walk from the cottage. The walk is definitely worth it, but involves a steep descent down to the coast path, and requires traversing a short section of the Axmouth - Lyme Undercliff path. Not recommended for toddlers, injured, or frail.

The attic space (2nd floor) houses a tv setup for kids. Bear in mind that there is reduced standing height in the eaves (~1.3m).

The steps leading up to and down from the attic also have a head height hazard for any guest taller than 1.4m in height.

Finally mobile phone signal is notoriously patchy to non existent on the Rousdon Estate. Wi-Fi is available for messaging apps and guests are asked to bear this in mind, prior to booking.

Dogs are charged at Â£60 each for the duration of the stay
