This former estate lodge is an iconic building within the
charming village of Sidbury, East Devon. Nestled within the
village but in a private location on the Sidbury Estate boundary,
the lodge has been renovated and transformed into a memorable and
unique stay.
The theme running throughout this beautiful home is simple;
dragging the natural landscape immediately outside into the lodge.
A warming country plum adorns the cosy country living room, with
quite simply a gorgeous boucle sofa to slip into after a days
exploring East Devon. The kitchen packs a punch, with a sage green
and floral theme, complimented with an vibrant, yet classic, black
and white abstract tile-effect floor. All your creature
comforts can be found, with Nespresso coffee machine, oven, hob,
microwave, dishwasher and country Aga.
There is a galley utility off the kitchen with washing machine
and separate downstairs loo. There is useful area for kicking off
muddy boots and hanging wet coats etc. here. Finally, off the
utility area is a traditional pantry; housing the fridge and
freezer, with plenty of space to store your supplies and locally
sourced ingredients.
Both bedrooms have king size beds with new mattresses. One
bedroom is located on the ground floor opposite the kitchen - ideal
for people recovering from injuries or ops, or those preferring
ground floor accommodation.
On the first floor is the second king bedroom with views toward
the village.
There is a dedicated toddler bedroom with sliding door -
recommended maximum age for this bed is realistically aged four or
five - but please ask UHS - there is possibility to place a trundle
bed in this room.
The family bathroom with shower over bath completes the second
floor.
Outside from the utility room, there is a small secure concrete
base courtyard with log store - ideal for bbq in the warmer months.
A gate leads off from this courtyard to a private garden
area.
The views from the lodge look out onto the estate beyond, with
sheep, pheasants, deer and a variety of bird life ever present.
Guests can enjoy access to the public footpaths running from the
village right up to Sidbury Castle and East Hill Strips above the
valley.
Sidbury village is a mere minutes stroll down the lane, where a
butchers, convenience store, pub and busy village hall can be
found. Victorian seaside town of Sidmouth is a 10 minute drive
south, which has fantastic restaurants and shops, a Waitrose, sea
sports, & swimming pool. Further afield but nearby are the
Jurassic Coast's fossil hotspots in Charmouth & Lyme Regis, and
the ever popular Exmouth and Exe Estuary. The nearest city is
Exeter boasting some great shopping opportunities, fabulous
restaurants and many activites for all ages - bowling, climbing
walls, canal kayaking etc.
