Great Events in Devon and Dorset 2021

Who knows which events and celebrations will be going ahead or not this year?
Here's a look forward to several iconic and popular events across Devon and Dorset.

Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival

September 15th - 19th

Annual celebration of everything literary, set in an iconic seaside idyll.

Why not celebrate by coming to stay in a piece of literary history?

Did you know, that Watch Hill was featured in Miss Marple’s 1986 ‘Sleeping Murder’?

Torquay International Agatha Christie Festival

September 11th - 18th

A celebration of the fantastic Agatha Christie, set against the jewel in The English Riviera.

Marking the centenary of the best selling novelist of all time,  come and discover for yourself why Christie had such love and connection with Torquay.

Why not stop in the heart of the Torquay marina at Blue Skies?

Or re-create your own murder mystery event at the majestic Singleton Manor?

Sidmouth Folk Festival

July 30th - August 6th

Sidmouth’s iconic festival, celebrating all things folky, foody and crafty.

We’ve visited several times and it is the perfect way to while away a sunny August day. There is something for all ages and tastes, fantastic local produce, talented artists and events for kids.

Looking for a nearby stay? Check out this gem in Otterton.

Or perhaps a classic Devon stay in nearby Sidbury?

Ottery St. Mary Tar Barrels

November 5th

This not to be missed spectacle, runs on November 5th each year. Only the brave and respected, carry flaming hot tar barrels through the winding streets of Ottery St Mary, to the roar and cheers of the crowds.

If you’ve never been, this is an absolute treat and will leave you wondering:

a) why? just why? and,

b) why you haven’t been sooner.

Tie in with a cheeky weekend, or extended half term visit to Devon, and stay at the picture perfect East Lodge.

Lyme Regis Folk Festival

August 27th - 30th

There really is nowhere more family friendly than Lyme folk festival. There is so much going on, its wall to wall colours, music, food and play. Cool off with a dip in the sea, or an ice cream on the esplanade.

The kids can frolic on the beach until dusk, while mum and dad tap their feet and sample the cider, enjoying the plethora of local music artists and singers. What’s not to enjoy?

Start planning your summer holiday to Dorset today; take a look at some fantastic stays in Lyme or perhaps the nearby Rousdon Estate?
